Why women should never defy aging

June 30, 2016 by Kate Mayer 10 Comments

Kate Mayer on how to defy agingCan you even believe it?

I sold out the house. Or the Villa, to be exact, for any Newtowners or Hookers reading this.

But still. Working Women’s Forum SOLD OUT. So this was a big deal. A huge deal.

Imagine if you were invited to speak at an event, and no one came. Or perhaps, just maybe, everyone came? That’s what happened. It was standing room only at the Villa Pizzeria & Italian restaurant. I shit you not. I know, I can’t believe it either.

Kate Mayer at Working Women's ForumI cannot not begin to explain the joy and horror I felt when I showed up, dragging in my mom, sister, nieces, and kid2, hoping to provide my own laugh track and not be alone. Just in case.

My mistake. There were others – lots of others – like 50 more others. Friends. Strangers. Friends of friends. Colleagues. People I didn’t even know knew me, there to laugh. A little. Or a lot. The pressure was on.

The Newtown Working Women’s Forum asked me to speak at their closing meeting providing this topic, and encouraging me to stay on point:

“How to Defy Aging and Create Happiness in your Life.”

PooSharing TMI at working women's forumr them. Maybe they should have vetted me a bit. For language. Or nipple hair.

The Working Women’s Forum is a group of smart, savvy, kind, and generous women, who run an exemplary networking event for women from all over western Connecticut.

And then they invited me.

So here is everything you need to know about defying aging with specific examples citing my belly, nipple hair, and one incredibly nasty, asshole troll.

Grab a cup of coffee or glass of wine, and take a listen. Let me know whether you agree, or disagree, and what you think about aging and creating happiness in your own life.

Thanks for the listen. And thanks to Helen, Pat, and Paula for trusting me with your fine group. It was an absolute pleasure, and I am thrilled to be a member of Working Women’s Forum. Please let me come me back.

Find me on Facebook, give my writer page some love and shares. I post a lot of brain droppings there, and you just might enjoy some.

Isn’t it fun when people don’t get what they expect but get what they need? 🙂 Love this video and your message!

Welcome Hooker! So many great groups and organizations here in town to meet people. Join Newcomers too; that was a lifesaver to me when I moved here 20+ years ago. There’s tons of opportunities to network, meet ‘n greet, etc. lots of writing groups too in FC County area as well. Hope to see you around town soon!
