Discovered my list of goals for 2017 and well, um, yeah. That.
A year ago I got on my high horse and touted the benefits of writing things down to make them happen and had every intention of following through, and was even off to a good start with a CT Press Club Best Personal Blog in Connecticut prize and as a BlogHer Voice of the Year honoree.
Plus, I basically flashed my boobs to the ladies who lunch, and spoke about women in the workplace back in the day for Newtown’s Working Women’s Forum, rode a hoverboard while emceeing a fundraiser for Newtown Action Alliance.
But then life got in the way.
And Trump.
And tough times.
And sometimes just getting outta bed shudda been on that list.
And so, well, yeah.
Can’t cross off much as you can see there, the proof is in the list.
What’s a woman to do?
This one is simple.
Keep moving.
Forward.
At least for 100 days.
Got a FitBit and have pledged to walk 10,000 steps for the first 100 days of 2018. (Much better than the run a 5k per month – WTF was I even thinking?)
So far, so good.
Was gonna bag the writing, and the social media, and focus solely on the walking, but nice people in the grocery store, and on Facebook, told me they missed my words.
And my funny.
And me.
Which was really, really nice.
So time to make another list and throw a little spaghetti and see if anything sticks.
Because why not?
Exactly. What you wrote down will happen, just maybe not in 2017…
If you’re walking 10,000 steps a day, how far have you got? Pittsburgh? Niagara?
Interesting you, my fav Brit, commented cuz FitBit just told me recently I walked the length of London Underground or something like that!
So glad you’re back! Keep them coming!
Heads up, in case you hear gossip in town. Told everyone at the church Sat that you were my dad’s girlfriend.
So glad to see you and looking forward to more Writing Out LOUD. ♥️
I love your words and your funny, and I’ve missed them too! Glad you’re slinging spaghetti again….
hey you. my invisible mentor.
I can so relate, Kate! I don’t write my goals down, for better or worse, but I spoke them and manifested them (whatever the hell that is or does!) for 2017. Zip. So, I’m repeating them for 2018. What’s the other option? Give up?
Just keep walking. Just keep writing!
I am a woman of a certain age who writes about a lot of things.
How I can’t find a job. I seem to be too old to work but I’m broke and need the money.
I write about Trump, because we have to do something about him, right? I also have four novels that I sell on Amazon. The latest one is set in Connecticut where I lived when my husband and I ran a B&B. It is about the heartache of America’s gun problem. (Yes, sigh.)
The books are selling but they don’t pay the bills. Yet. So, there’s that.
Social media is a necessary evil when you’re an Indie author. So yeah, I do that too.
Getting out of bed wasn’t on today’s list although my husband said I should shovel by the woodpile after the plow guy gets here. He just came. I guess my husband’s making my lists now.
Keep writing. There really are people who will miss your words and as a blogger myself I know how we need to hear this once in awhile.
Girl. I feel ya.
